amsterdam2000I didn’t know Daniel DeRossi very well, but when I heard of his passing, it reminded me of this old newspaper clipping that I have saved in my photo album for many years.

So I thought it would be nice to share this memory of him as well as my 5th grade friends from back in 1986. I think the picture speaks for itself.

Here’s to a man who believed in and worked for the future of Amsterdam.

  1. Great photo Timmy Becker! I didn’t know Dan DeRossi either but from what I read, Amsterdam lost a great man. The Webmaster article in yesterday’s Recorder by Alissa Scott was also very nice.

  2. Robert Purtell says:

I think a lot of people knew of Mr. DeRossi, but did not know him. I would say that is one of the signs of a great Man.

  3. John Becker says:

    Tim,

I knew Dan DeRossi from my days at the Recorder covering the school board. You are absolutely right when you say he “believed in and worked for” Amsterdam’s future. He was a gentleman and a visionary, and your kind words and those of others are richly deserved. I’m glad you have that memory.

    Love, Dad

  4. Trisha Naish says:

Very nicely done! He was a wonderful man and we were so very lucky to have him in our community! Also, I miss those old Curie Eastside days!!!
